"Millennials" in the trade unions: How to involve young people in the trade unions

The term "millennials" refers to the generation of people born between the early 1980s and 1990s. The Millennial Generation is also referred to as Generation Y. For a variety of reasons, this generation has little interest in trade union membership and it is a difficult task for trade unions to attract young people.

Participants have reported on the activities of their trade unions in this sense. They have listed several activities such as legal aid, anti-mobbing advisory center, solidarity aid, regular contact with young members, their membership in executive, administrative and supervisory board, etc. Moreover, there is no collective consciousness among the young workers and the trade unions need to talk to them in order to raise the collective consciousness

In order to solve this question successfully, the members of the Council have set themselves the following tasks:

- Improvement of the image of the trade union;

- Involving as many young people as possible in union and corporate bodies;

- Improvement of negotiation skills;

- Modernization of communication and information channels;

-Use of digital tools and new digital membership services.
